The Enterprise Risk Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the enterprise risk management (ERM) framework within Meralco PowerGen (MGen). This role ensures identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring of strategic, financial, operational, and compliance risks that could impact the organization's objectives. The Enterprise Risk Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate risk management into business processes, fostering a culture of risk awareness and resilience.


Key Responsibilities:


Enterprise Risk Framework Implementation:

  • Develop and implement risk management policies, procedures, and frameworks in line with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance MGen’s risk management strategies and tools.


Risk Identification & Assessment:

  • Conduct risk assessments to identify key business risks, emerging threats, and vulnerabilities.
  • Utilize data analysis, scenario planning, and risk modeling to quantify risks and their potential impact.


Risk Mitigation & Control:

  • Work closely with business units to develop risk mitigation strategies and controls.
  • Ensure that risk mitigation measures align with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and monitor key risk indicators (KRIs) and early warning systems.


Regulatory Compliance & Governance:

  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards, including energy sector risk management requirements.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors and regulatory agencies to address risk-related concerns.


Crisis Management & Business Continuity Planning:

  • Develop, implement, and test business continuity and crisis management plans to mitigate the impact of potential disruptions.
  • Conduct simulations and training to ensure organizational preparedness for various risk scenarios.


Reporting & Communication:

  • Prepare and present risk assessment reports to senior management and the board.
  • Maintain open communication with leadership to ensure they are aware of key risks and mitigation strategies.


Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CRMP, FRM, PRM, CPA) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in risk management, preferably in the energy, utilities, or power generation sector.
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies, compliance regulations, and business continuity management.
  • Knowledge of the energy and power generation industry, including regulatory and operational risks.
  • Proficiency in risk management frameworks such as COSO ERM, ISO 31000, and risk quantification methodologies.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments, developing risk mitigation strategies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with finance, legal, operations, and leadership teams.
  • Proficiency in risk management software and data analytics tools is a plus.
